Built at the site of the former chapel of Santa Cruz on the 1800’s, this church was founded by the island’s first Captain-donee, Joss van Hurtere, and his wife Brites de Macedo, who is buried there. In this neoclassical construction, one can see, at the ceiling over the altar, the coat of arms of the island’s first noble families.
