Geography

Faial Island, with the shape of an irregular pentagon and an area 173,42 km², has the length of 21 km and a width of 14 km.

It is dominated by the volcanic cone of Caldeira, presenting gentle slopes interrupted by secondary volcanic eruptions. Its highest point is “Cabeço Gordo” with 1043m.
